Redskins nab Jarmon

In today’s NFL supplemental draft, the prize of the day went to the Washington Redskins, who used a third-round pick on Kentucky DE Jeremy Jarmon.

G. talked about this guy’s size and quickness in a previous post, but just to reiterate, he’s 6’3″, 277 lbs with a 4.8 40-yard dash.  He only had 4.5 sacks last year, but there were several teams that loved his physical tools.

For those not familiar with how the supplemental draft works, it’s a process where you don’t have to select anyone if you don’t want to.  And in fact, 31 teams opted not to, seeing as how Jarmon was the only player selected today.  By using their third-round pick on Jarmon, who was going to miss his senior season due to a positive test of a banned substance, they now have no third rounder in the 2010 draft.

But seeing as how the Redskins seem appauled by the standard draft, that just means they can show up to Day 2 much later in the afternoon.
