It was reported that Arizona Cardinals Pro Bowl wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald had told his front office to acquire the services of Eagles backup quarterback Kevin Kolb, but now he’s denying that claim.
According to SportsRadioInterviews.com, Fitzgerald went on WCNN in Atlanta and said,
“No, because I didn’t,” Fitzgerald said. “I never said anything about what I wanted. As a player, we don’t really have too much say so, if any, about what we want. We are just out there playing ball, we are paid to do our jobs and that is pretty much what they expect us to do. So I really don’t have any idea who is going to be out quarterback and to be honest with you I just want to win and whoever is going to helps us do that I am all for it.”
Who knows what to believe? Rumors don’t really matter all that matters is which teams are willing to step up to the plate and make a legitimate offer for Kolb. Talking about wanting him doesn’t really matter, if it’s not matched with some serious offers.
Fitzgerald should talk to the “Young Tongues” who clamored for Kolb during the off-season. He might learn something.
Another example of the sorry media and how people don’t understand the difference between “I heard” and an actual quote. Fitzgerald was never actually quoted in the Scheftner piece – however he’s actually quoted now and his alleged praise has turned into ” I never said anything about what I wanted.” Funny how that works.

Maybe the back-tracking is to avoid any tampering allegations. Maybe Fitz and Kolb have had some conversations. Just saying…………………………..
Larry Fitzgerald just got a lesson in loose lips sink ships. Doesn’t matter though because the Eagles know what he’s worth, people who assess film know what he’s worth, and the Cardinals know what he’s worth. Dude is gonna be a beast, if he goes somewhere with assets. Andy Reid made a great decision drafting this guy regardless of what we knew about him. I was one of those people that laughed but if you watched him play after Vick got hurt there was no denying he works hard and is smart.
and no I’m not Howard Eskin or Dave Spadaro… I usually complain about the Eagles but this is the one person on our roster that I think we’re going to regret. I could be wrong, I just don’t think I am. Let the haters hate. He never got a fair shake and still did his thing.
Paulman’s honest assesment is that Kolb can be an effective #1 Starter in
the NFL, But Vick gives the Eagles the best chance to win a SB in the short-term(2-3 year window), by the time Vick is done, I think Kafka can be as
effective as Kolb would be, so with all things considered, it’s time to Trade
Kolb and get value for him while you can and help address some of the positions that need upgrading..

You’re right. Kolb was not given a fair shake. He was “handed” the starting job. He didn’t compete for it. He didn’t earn it. It was “given” to him. There’s nothing “fair” about that. Despite a long internship, Kolb displayed the same shortcomings he displayed as a rookie.

Kolb threw the same amount of TD’s as INT”S when it was all said and done with a 76.1 QB rating…Kolb is an overrated player, that never deserved the praise he was getting to begin with! He’s been in the NFL for 4 seasons, he was supposed to be the future of the franchise in 2010, but the first game, Matthews changed the Eagles 2010 season for the better. Its a joke, how you cats that defend Kolb, bought into it being a rebuilding season…But with Vick, a man that was away from the game and pretty new to the Eagles playbook, really had no room for error. Vick is a proven winner, Kolb is not! Kolb is no more than a backup on the Eagles, the man wants to start ship his a** out of here ASAP.
