Andy Reid was not a happy man this morning because three of his receivers woke up with the dropsies. Kevin Curtis, Reggie Brown and Hank Baskett all were infected this morning.
There are few things that kill the West Coast offense as quicklly as dropped passes. The offense is predicated on staying out of third and long situations by throwing short and easily completable passes, so that third and short puts the defensive coordinator in a bind because he doesn't know whether to send a defense in versus the run or a defense in versus the pass.
McNabb was on the money with his throws but time and time again the receivers failed to come down with the ball. Reggie Brown left the field somewhat upset and fatigued. I don't think it's something that will stay with him and his fellow receivers that long.
Jason Avant who is the other receiver among the top four that I haven't mentioned, took a brutal shot from safety Quintin Mikell, yet held onto the football. It was good football all the way around because A.J. Feeley threw the ball where it had to be thrown, Mikell came up and delivered the knock out blow, then Avant looked the ball in, tucked it away, took the wicked hit, yet still hung onto the football.
C.J. Gaddis rookie safety has been doing a good job of picking up the coverages, tackling in the open field and coming up to support the front seven on running plays as well as screens.
Omar Gaither made an outstanding interception today by looking off A.J. Feeley to make him think he was dropping outside , then he cut back inside to pick off an errant Feeley mistake.
Yesterday the Birds were working on their coming out of their endzone type of offense, today they were back to working their going in offense.
Will Be Update later in the afternoon.
