Things couldn't have gone any better last night for Phils centerfielder Shane Victorino. He had a walk-off single in the ninth to lead the Phillies to a 3-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds.
"It means a lot to me. It really means what these fans are about. From Day 1, when I got called up here in '05, I knew what I was coming into. I heard a lot of good things about these fans, and it only gets better and better every day."
Victorino is in a battle with San Francisco third baseman/catcher Pablo Sandoval and is trailing him by an unknown margin.
The Phils centerfielder has been all over the place in search of more votes. He's campaigned with Mayor Nutter, Governor Ed Rendell and the local radio and television stations.
610-WIP has given some interns the responsibility of voting for Victorino on a non-stop basis for 72 hours straight until all voting stops and the votes are counted.
