The receivers rebounded from the their poor performance on Tuesday with solid workouts today. The team did some hitting but not as much as earlier in camp.
And oh yeah, they finally gave Jeremiah Trotter the day off. Brian Westbrook was also out of action. We still haven't seen Brian Dawkins put on his equipment. Lito Sheppard remains out of action. Veteran defensive tackles Ian Scott and Monte Reagor are still both on the mend. As usual there was a substantial crowd on hand of about 10,000 thousand strong. They weren't as loud today but they were excited about being so close to the action.
The Eagles got some work on their 3rd and short and the defense dominated. There Birds were getting no movement upfront. You could see why Shawn Andrews is an All-Pro. The Eagles miss his power on that right side. Andrews has missed quite a bit of action with a sprained ankle. Shawn is usually the guy the offense runs behind in these situation.
Kevin Curtis continued his brilliant play. This time he went up and took a pass from one of the Eagles cornerbacks. Curtis has perfected the technique of using his body to screen off the defender, then he gets to the ball at its highest point.
I like what I'm seeing out of C.J. Gaddis because he's got the speed and quickness to defend the pass but he's also shown that he can come up and pound opposing ball carriers. I saw make a great play yesterday by reading a toss play. Today he made a play on the goalline on Tony Hunt that was big time safety play. Hunt who is a good size back made the mistake of trying to take a play outside after seeing that the inside was bottled up. Gaddis stepped up and made the play. C.J. was a cornerback in college and he had to prove he would hit. Well he's proven he can tackle and will hit.
While we're talking about hitting, I think Sean Considine came to camp with the intention of proving that he can tackle at the pro level. Today he put a whallop on rookie tight end Brent Celek. The hit rang the kid's bell so to speak.
Speaking of safeties, B Dawk was out after practice running again like he had done yesterday. It's good to see him workout again today because that means he didn't set anything back from yesterday's workout.
