Phils Say “No” To Offer In Halladay Talks

According to Jayson Stark of ESPN.com, the Phils have said "No" to the Blue Jays initial trade proposal request for Kyle Drabek, J.A. Happ and Dominic Brown in a trade for Cy Young winner Roy Halladay.

I think this is all part of the negotiation process between Phils GM Ruben Amaro Jr. and Toronto GM J.P. Ricciardi.  The Blue Jays made the first move then the Phillies made a counter.  Of course Toronto is going to come in high and the Phils are going to come in low.

Next up we will see if somebody moves and how much.

They have five days to do the dance.  The Blue Jays would love to have another team in the talks to put pressure on the Phillies but right now it doesn't seem like there's another team that is very serious about making a deal to obtain Halladay.

Phillies fans are aware of who Happ is, but they might not be as familiar with Drabek, who is a right handed pitching prospect and Brown is an outfield prospect.  Both Drabek and Brown are considered to be amongst the top 25 minor league prospect in all of the minors at the moment.

Still the fact remains that a player is called a prospect because they haven't proven they can make or star in the major leagues.  Still these guys are highly thought of.
