You can see the pattern of the Eagles drafting plans by the players they’re taking second looks at by bringing into town for visits. The Birds had said they were going to bring in a group of players, so they would get the chance to see how they would respond in a team setting.
I think that time is now. Adam Caplan of Foxsports tweeted that New Mexico State cornerback Davon House and Utah guard Caleb Schlauderaff.
You can easily see why they wanted to get another look at House. He’s got the size that would be attractive for a team like the Eagles who have to deal with those big Giants and Cowboys receivers two times each season. The young man is 6’1″ and weighs 200 pounds. House showed he was a playmaker in college with 11 interceptions. I don’t know if there’s another cornerback prospect with those type of stats.
Add to those stats the fact that he improved his 40-yard dash time from a 4.5 to a 4.35 at his Pro Day and you can see why the Birds invited him in for another visit. That’s a tremendous combination of size and speed.
I’ve watched some tape on this kid and he’s a guy who they need to draft. At times he covers like fly paper. He’ll probably be available in the second round or maybe the third.
Schlauderaff is a guard who doesn’t have great athletic skills, but finds a way to get the job done. He’s got a mean streak and knows how to finish a block. The young man is probably capable of pass blocking at the guard position in the NFL.
He’s a guard who will be there late in the draft, so they’ll be able to grab him in round five, six or seven, if they don’t get a guard they have rated higher in the earlier rounds.
House is a playmaker who is perfect for the Eagles at #54…. I dont see him making it past round 2.
Good call Jott,
I have liked this guy for that 2nd Round pick at #54 for a while now.. and you are right, he will not last past the late 2nd Round..
I am thinking DE at #23, then CB at 54, then OL/LB in the 3rd/4th/5th Rounds
According to afriend who is a scout, Davon House is a late 3rd – mid 4th talent.
To Dixie,
I would get new friends.. on House, He started out as late 3rd-mid 4th but he had a strong Combine and Workout Day and while his stock has risen, other CB’s rankings and stock have fallen like Jimmy Smith, Brandon Harris, Aaron WIlliams, Ras Dowling, etc, etc which has pushed up D House to a mid/late 2nd Round pick per my scouting reports and sources..
