Jimmy Rollins Was The Man For The Moment

Rollins with picture perfect swingIt was a picture perfect swing against a 99 mile an hour fastball and it resulted in a line drive into the gap and the Phils taking a commanding 3-1 lead in the series.

Jimmy Rollins was running so fast around the bases he was closing on Carlos Ruiz who was the winning the run.

J-Roll was running with excitement as glee as he had all but killed any chances the Dodgers were going to have of winning this best of seven series.

What a difference this was from early in the season when was Rollins was struggling and couldn’t buy a hit.

Some fans were talking about trading him but the Phils stayed calm.  Charlie Manuel sat him down a few times in hopes of him getting his stroke back.

I recall admiring the way Rollins refused to panic.  He continued to play the Gold Glove level-shortstop and knew his hitting would come around.

Well it came around and it wasn’t a surprise that his hitting coincided with the Phils opening up a gap between themselves and the rest of the division.

Rollins celebrates with teammatesHe’s the Phils leader.  He exudes confidence and has no problem having people put the pressure on him.

He was loving every bit of being up there with the game on the line last night and he made the most of it.

J-Roll is as good as there is in the business, when he’s getting on base, hitting line drives and stealing bases.

It’s nearly impossible for teams to beat the Phils, when J-Roll, the key which starts the engine is getting on base.

On a side note: the Phils had better tone down this celebrations before somebody gets hurt.

Ryan Howard plowed into J-Roll and fell on the ground with the entire team jumping on his back.

I know it was an exciting moment but they can’t afford to get anybody hurt during these celebrations.
