Phillies GM Expects Lidge To Be Much Better In 2010

Lidge letting it go GM Ruben Amaro said he expects closer Brad Lidge to bounce back with another outstanding season in 2010, after an awful year in 2009.

Amaro said he doesn’t expect him to be perfect like he was in 2008 but he predicts he will have a year some where in between his 2008 and 2009 season.  That’s an easy prediction because there’s a lot of room in the middle.

I will give Lidge a lot of credit for pitching hurt because Amaro took nearly fifteen minutes to go through all the injuries the closer dealt with in 2009.

He had problems with his knee.  This was public knowledge early in the season, but nobody knows exactly how long he dealt with it.

He had elbow problems which will hopefully be remedied today when he has some bone chips clearned out.

Most Phillies fans didn’t know about Lidge having elbow problems.

Lidge celebrates WS win He was definitely pitching like something was bothering him.

Amaro also said Lidge had tendonitus problems from time to time.

I hope Lidge learns to hold on a runner while he’s getting the medical attention.

You can’t concede second base to every runner who gets on and not wind up having some major problems as a closer.
