The Sixers led for the entire game, yet lost again and now are trailing 3-0 in the best of seven-game series against the Miami Heat. I can understand when this happens once, but this is the second time in the three games that 76ers held a lead through the entire game, then when it was all on the line, the Heat made the plays and the Sixers didn’t down the stretch.
The bottomline as far as I’m concerned is the fact that Miami is better than the Sixers and there’s no way of getting around it. I think the Heat turns up the intensity when they have to in the fourth quarter.
I don’t think Elton Brand could play any better. He scored 21 points on nine for 15 shooting, grabbed 11 rebounds. Young point guard Jrue Holiday dropped in 20 and handed out eight assists.
Lou Williams hit a big three from the corner with less than a minute to go on the clock to shrink the Heat lead to four points. Williams scored 15 points and contributed four assists.
Even Center Spencer Hawes had a good game with 12 points and six rebounds. Thaddeus Young didn’t play well last night but he played well in the other games. Last night he couldn’t throw the ball in the ocean. He was 1 for 8 from the field and scored only four points, but he’s not the leader of this basketball team.
Team leader Andre Iguodala dished out 10 assists, but he scored only 10 points on 3 for 10 shooting. He’s been very disappointing during this series and it should be his last games with the Sixers.
Philadelphia needs to trade Iguodala this off season. He’s a versatile player with the ability to score in the teens, deliver assists when needed, rebound and play outstanding defense. One thing he can’t do is be a go-to-guy who can score when needed. Every time the game is on the line, the Sixers are in trouble because they can’t rely on Iguodala to carry the team.
His game is not that of a go-to guy, so I would advise the Sixers to trade him and get a go-to guy.
He’s not worth the money they’re paying him. I’m not saying he can’t do some things well, but he doesn’t fit this basketball team. He should be a on team that already has a number of scorers, so he’s not asked to be a consistent scorer.
We need a miracle draft pick. I dont understand why we didn’t go after players like chauncy billups. I need help understanding why we suck this bad.
The Sixers are about to finish their best Season in the Post Iverson era and
Fans are bitching,bitching,bitching.. Most NBA observors didn’t even have the Sixers making the playoffs this year and yet, here they are battling the Miami Heat with 2 pretty close games out of 3 played so far
They obviously need 2-3 more pieces but at least they played hard and brought a little excitement this season and have some good young players to build around (T Young,J Holliday,T Young)
As far as Trading Iglouada, I am not sure there will be much of a market for a player at his Salary level and with his limited Offensive Skills for a team to be real interested in him… Maybe Phoenix since that’s home for him but the Sixers would probably have to agree to eat a large portion of his Salary/Contract
Sixers need to get a mean, nasty, rebounding machine at PF, a pure 3 point-shooter and more depth at Center and they could move up to 4-5th in the East next season..
@runtheball09 Honestly, I need help understanding why you would have wanted to go after a players like Chauncey Billup. You want to trade for a 34 year old point guard whose game is quickly falling off to replace the only player on the team who looks to have to potential to be a piece for a contending team (Jrue)? If anything, this team needs to get rid of the vetaran pieces and big contracts and look to the future, not add another ailing vet to continue to perpetuate in mediocrity.
As far as trading Iggy goes, it is probobly necessary but it is going to be really hard to get even close to fair compensation. Rod Thorn will have to work some magic.
Miracle draft picks dont happen in the NBA.We suck this bad? Noone…noone expected this form the ball tem this year. We’ve run into a team that is a legit…LEGIT title contender and have held up. Yes,we havent won one game. But ask Bron and D-wade if we’re scrapping.Or if they thought we would win a game. Answers…YES…and HELL NO.
Paul..i agree.
Gary.Iggs plays hard-core D….you trade him and bring in Nene and your gonna get smacked again in the p-offs cause Young and the other wont be able to handle Bron. And Iggs will win a title in Chi-town…LA…or worse NY.Just scenarios.I dunno.
Haha, you said the “Birds” should trade him…
Get Nene in here and tell Jrue to see me for a strenf and hypertophy program. Also…Thad Iggs Eve need shoot camp. Elton…continue with your off-season program. Meeks…refine long range bombs…he could be deadly in a year.
Gary is Eagles all day everyday….he is a true Birdbrain.
This is my biggest problem I have with iggy. its his lack of confidence and drive on the offensive side. He has the ability but Lacks the confidence. If you notice against lesser opponents he plays great games. Its like he’s afraid of being “that guy” on the court but wants that title. This series was the time for him to show what he has. During this time of year guys play with worst injuries then what iggy has (kobe). His play in this series is inexcusable
He’s missing wide open shots. He’s afraid of lebron and wade. I can tell. I been ballin for years I can tell when someone is playing scared. I watched the game lastnight and when he missed open shots and had key turnovers I said he needs to get traded straight up and down. I appreciate the effort he gives on defense but there is no reason why he shouldn’t be averaging 20-24 points a game.
For some guys playing defense is easier than scoring the ball. Carmello anthony for ex can’t play defense well at all but his offensive game is off the charts. Iggy is the opposite. He has no type of enthusiam on the offensive side, he’d rather have a shot clock violation then to actually shoot the ball. Even doug collins has said I want dre to score more, I want him to shoot more instead of set other guys up all the time. He doesn’t want to shoot tho he’d rather set someone up. It comes a point in every game where if you “the guy” on your team you can’t continue to set your teammates (who have lesser ability then you) up. You gotta go win the freakin game and stop playing so soft. He gotta get traded. I was hoping he could improve his shooting and become a better scorer but he’s not willing to take his game to the next level and stand up when its time to.
He has angered this fan base. There were grunts and groans when he missed or turned the ball over. Iggy hasn’t improved his game. Think about team usa he was asked to defend and rebound that’s it, coach k said we don’t need you to score. So that should tell you a lot. He’s not elite on the offensive end all he wants to do is play great defense and pass the ball yet wants the title as “the guy”
Iggy biggest problem is that he looks to much like D McNabb, he has similar facial epxressions, the same sour puss look on his face when things aren’t going well, I think he reminds too many in Philly of the missed opportunities of the McNabb era and are now taking it out on a athlete that looks, sounds, and moves a lot like him…
paulman, stfu. He looks nothing like donovan. Get a life
Iggy is a disappointment. And where is everyone that said thad young was the face of the franchise? 1-8 lastnight. Wanna know why? Because lebron was on him. Thad got locked down. You guys get way too pumped about a guy that gets hustle points and is gritty. He’s not a franchise guy, he’s not a face of a franchise. He’s a good complimentary player off the bench and that’s it.
You wanna take a look at a franchise player, take a look at miami they have 3 of them. That’s franchise players. Any 3 can be the face of a franchise and they all have been before
I don’t consider Bosh as a franchise player either.. a very good Role player but not a Franchise player.. What did he do when he was with Toronto, nothing…
There are 4-5 Franchise players in the NBA that can carry a team by themselves Kobe,D Rose, LeBron, K Durant, D Wade, maybe Howard and Nowitzki and Pierce.. That’s it and it’s not like these type of players are available in the Draft every year because they are not.. …
Players like C Anthony, C Bosh, L Odom, A Stoudemaire, T Parker, D Williams, J Johnson, B Griffin, are all very good players, but not Franchise Type
To Schill
How can you say that Iggy doesn’t resemble D Mac, he could easily pass as a sibling, younger brother…
Does anyone else on here sees a resemblence of Iggy and D Mac and not only facial features, but in body language, expressions, etc, etc…
@ J Hart …Dog who is your squad philly or miami…the last paragraph of you last post was a slup fest
T.Y. played 20 mins and was 1 for 8 ..only eight attempts last night his shot wasn’t there… first 2 games dude was ballin coming off the bench
What’s your point ?
Dirk is a franchise player, amare is, melo is, so is bosh. All of those guys have led there teams to the playoffs. Dirk led the mavs to the finals if you recall. Blake griffen is an incredible talent and is the face the clippers. Idk what ur talkin about but Every star or superstar needs quality players around them. Do you remember a few years ago when kobe wanted to be traded? Why? Bc he had nobody around him at all, they stunk. So stars/superstars need quality players around them in order to make the playoffs and to go further. That’s why they call them the big 3 not the big 2 because they’re all allstar caliber/superstars/face of the franchise players
To J Hart
Doesn’t half the NBA teams make the playoffs… then there would be 15-20 Franchiose players in the NBA. I have to repsectfully disagree about C Bosh being a “Franchise Player” I just don’t see it and he’s not even in the conversation as far as what he’s accomplished so far in the NBA which is not much.. They call them the BIg 3 because that’s what they call themselves and of course the media sucks it up, the NBA plays it into the ground and on and on again.. Don’t get me wrong Bosh is a good all-around player, but so are 50 other guys in the NBA
Gotta luv it… I’m philly sports all day I just call it like I see it. Thad is not a face of a franchise. 1-8 in 20mins is not gonna cut it. He’s no face of a franchise get outta here. Lebron locked him down. The reason thad got off the 1st few games was bc the heat didn’t pay him any mind. Now they know who he is and what he can do so they solved that problem by putting bron on him.
I’m a huge sixer fan but im not a miami heat hater, I enjoy watching great players play great basketball. And the heat are doing just that
Paulman, do you consider paul peirce a franchise player? He centainly is. The celts never traded him, he in the alltime scoring for them. He did nothing without garnett and allen but he’s been that guy. So was garnett and allen on there respective teams. Bosh was the raptors franchise player and they didn’t want him to go but he wanted to win, the raptors had not talent outside of bosh. Liken that to what garnett did with the celts. Though he was traded he didn’t want to be in minnesota anymore.
But to be labeled as a franchise guy you usually have to score 24-30 points a game. Bosh is capable of that every night. Bosh is a franchise guy. He just didn’t have the peices when toronto
When he played in toronto*
I am sorry you guys must enjoy watching an even keeled team barely make the playoffs. Chauncy Billups opens doors to other good players wanting to come. We add mediocr players year in year out. I blame owner I guess.
Billups best days are behind him for sure and would not add much to this team, he’s good with othe epxerienced players around him to make a playoff run which won’t happen with the Knicks either since they play no real team Defense..
Where is jason kapono? He’s one of the best 3pt shooters in the league and is never used… is it because of his lack of defense? Whatever case he needs to be on the floor because he can hit big shots.
Also they need to use nociono as a hitman. Meaning put him out there for hard foul purposes. They need to be tougher. Nociono provides hardnose play.
Both guys need to see some playing time
The Sixers are just going to have bite the bullet trading Iggy. It’s probably either going to be something like to the Trailblazers for Oden or to the Mavericks for Jason Kidd. It’s either old or just broken down with potential for this dude. Even though Tim Duncan is old, the Sixers could use him and he’s a free agent this summer. Duncan/Hawes would give the Sixers 20+ points, 10 blocked shots and probably 14 rebounds per game out of the center position and that would be a nice upgrade. At that point the Sixers really need to address defense at the shooting guard position. They obviously need to try to trade Iggy since he can’t guard the best shooting guards anymore, but Williams and Turner are just not good on defense. Maybe they can address that in the draft, but that’s lot to ask from any rookie.
