The Birds just grabbed Pittsburgh running back Dion Lewis, who is on the small side with great quickness and a tremendous burst. He excelled as both a runner and receiver in college. He should fit in well as a backup for his former teammate at Pittsburgh, LeSean McCoy.
Jerome Harrison, who backed up McCoy a year ago, is going to be a free agent, so they need somebody to step into that role and take his place.
Lewis is only 5’7″ and weighs 195 pounds. He ran the forty-yard dash in the 4.5 range, so he’s got good speed but he’s not a burner. His best quality is his quickness. Lewis is as quick as a cat, when it comes to changing directions. The smallish running back has tremendous stop and start quickness, which allows him to avoid big hits and make tackles miss in the open field.
He’s very strong for his height and does a great job of picking up the blitz. The Pitt Panther can be a serious headache when he gets in the open field.
I am not familiar with him.. Who has the scoop on this guy.. Where’s those Pitt Alums who can tell us about him…

He is the perfect compliment to McCoy in the Eagles offense… say goodbye to the waste of a roster space they call Buckley..
Lewis is going to add the most value returning kicks where the Eagles were putrid last season. He gives the Eagles options in the passing game where they can go with a 2 backfield set of him and McCoy and cause mismatches for opposing LB’s and Safeties… great pick!

I thought we would see a TE and FB selected with all these picks for I thinkn there needs to be some competitions at these positions and I don’t think L Weaver wil make it back from his Knee Injury with nerve damage back to being able to play

It’s hard to tackle a cat, no matter how big. He can probably hide behind the OL, and make the defense pay for over-committing. Sounds like a nice addition, really.
Jerome Harrison played very well for us when given the chance. Excellent in fact. I hope we resign him.

The Problem is that Jerome may want to go a team where he is utilized a little more , He’s not getting any younger and probably wants more carries and more opportunities.. Look for the Redskins and or Dolphins to be intersted in his services where he may be able to compete for more carries and possibly even a starter’s spot in Washington & Miami..
