Iverson not sorry about making All Star team

Allen Iverson got elected to the Eastern Conference All Star team by averaging 14.4 points over the course of 20 games.  Makes sense, right?

Not that he has to, but he certainly isn’t apologizing for doing so.

“The way I look at it is, what should I do?” Iverson said Friday night. “Should I worry about what those people say or concentrate on the million-plus people that voted for me? To me, it’s a no-brainer. My fans want to see me play and they have the right to put in who they want to put in the game.

“They voted me in, and it’s an honor. I don’t want to disrespect them by not participating in the game,” he said.

I don’t think anyone expects him to not play in the game, it’s not his fault the fans elected him.¬† But, I think some might be looking for him to pull an Obama-style “I didn’t deserve this really” type of comment.¬† While Obama didn’t really say that, he did at least acknowledge that there were others more deserving.¬†¬†

If you need yet another reason as to why fans shouldn’t vote for All Stars in any sport, then I don’t know what to tell you.¬†
