Gagne injures groin

Simon Gagne is heading back to Philly from the Team Canada Olympic camp in Calgary to have his groin checked out by Flyers’ team doctors.

It does not appear to be that bad of an injury, just a strain and the flight back home is more of a precautionary measure.  Remember, Gagne had a bone spur removed from his hip in May and the tightness in his groin is said to be stemming from that.

Typically, I would not be too worried but Gagne has not exactly been the healthiest player in the locker room over the past couple of years.  He was sidelined for the entire 2007-08 campaign with post-concussion syndrome and has always had constant, nagging issues with his groin, hip, shoulder, elbow and well, you get the picture.

The Flyers can not afford to lose Gagne because of groin issues and he needs to make sure that he is on the ice this year.  Gagne and Briere were supposed to be a potent scoring duo and so far they have not been able to get a season under their belt since Briere’s signing.  Briere missed all of last season with groin issues.
