Phillies young outfielder Dominic Brown is rejoining the Phils and centerfielder Shane Victorino is being placed on the 15-day Disabled List. Ruben Amaro Jr. was leaning toward not calling Brown up from the Triple AAA Lehigh Valley Iron Pig, but I think the lack of hitting by the lineup and the problems with Victorino’s hamstring left him no option.
They were taking their time bringing Brown back up to the big league because they want to give him the best chance they can to succeed. Amaro Jr. and his staff wanted to make sure his hand was well and his timing had been recaptured. They want to see him become their everyday rightfielder.
All Phillies can see that the club needs more pop in the lineup.
Good luck to Dom Brown and hope he gets off to a good start.. The Phils could use some excitement in this everyday line-up..
Brown is not MLB ready….. he showed promise early, but teams learned how to pitch him and he never adjusted…
@Paulman –
what about spinning a deal with Brown to the Stros for Pence… ?
The Stros are ready to rebuild.. the deal would make sense for both teams.
Not a bad deal, Hunter Pence is a good all-around player..Plays hard, good speed,fielder and thrower.. probably not as much upside as Brown has potentially but Pence has good career averages over his 4 year career so far.
Batting Average of .287 and gets you about 20 HR’s and 80 RBI a year and surround him with some better talent like the Phils have and he could probaby improve on those #’s.. Bats Right and would be a nice fit batting #5 in the Line-up behind Howard..
Brown isn’t going to learn how to be MLB ready by destroying AAA like he has been. It’s time to throw him out there.
Brown is overrated as a prospect and will never hit MLB pitching until he learns to shorten his swing.
