Don Banks of SI.com echoed a report by Sal Pal of ESPN that the Eagles have taking the lead in the chase for Chiefs TE Tony Gonzalez. According to the report they're offering a 3rd rounder for him.
The chase for Gonzalez would confirm a change of strategy for the Birds. Normally they don't go after players who are over 30 years of age.
To me it would signal they're trying to win a championship in the next couple of years while they have Donovan McNabb under contract and Brian Westbrook is still able to contribute.
Here's what Banks wrote about the trade offer:
"The buzz about the Chiefs resuming their attempts to trade veteran tight end Tony Gonzalez has restarted, and it sounds as if the Eagles might have nosed ahead of the Falcons as the most likely trade partner. Philly is thought to be willing to give up a third-rounder for Gonzalez. But Kansas City is seeking at least a second-round pick for a player it considers a future Hall of Famer, and may not be willing to bear the brunt of any criticism that could come if it's perceived to have given away Gonzalez too cheaply."
They can sweeten the offer with a player. What about Reggie Brown or ……….?
I am commenting to let you know of the fantastic encounter my cousin’s daughter experienced reading your site. She even learned many issues, not to mention what it’s like to have a wonderful giving mindset to have many people quite simply grasp chosen grueling subject areas. You really exceeded our expectations. Many thanks for giving the informative, healthy, educational and as well as easy thoughts on the topic to Jane.
