Where’s The Sense Of Urgency?

The Eagles regular season won't start until September but they lost a battle yesterday.  The Falcons showed more of a sense of urgency than the Birds, by trading next year's second round pick for Tony Gonzalez.

The Birds and the Falcons are two playoff teams trying to get better. It seems like Atlanta are more desperate to win it all despite the fact that they have a 2nd year quarterback, Matt Ryan.

We've got a quarterback who is 33 years old and running out of time, yet they have more of a sense of urgency than we do. Shouldn't things be reversed?

Nobody will be talking about it in January of 2010 when the team is battling in the playoffs but yesterday's loss will make it tougher.

I know we can just blame everything on McNabb but a franchise can't lose during the off season and expect to win it all during the season.

The Falcons were willing to give up a second round pick next year for Gonzalez and the Eagles were left out in the cold.  Why would Gonzalez be worth a 2nd round pick to Atlanta but not to us?

Should the Eagles have been willing to trade next year's number two pick for the Hall of Fame bound tight end who caught 96 passes last year for over 1000 yards?  I say yes.  Why are the Falcons more desperate than we are?

As we see with the Eagles front office, they will put a knife in the back of a player, but they don't go for the jugular when they're putting together the team.

If not now, then when?

This team has gotten so close so many times, I think they should have more of a sense of urgency than any other team in the NFC.
