Andy Reid said yesterday on WIP that the Eagles could better this year than last year.
He said they went into the off season with a plan to get younger on the offensive line and they did.
Reid feels the offensive tackles they have picked up, Stacy Andrews and Jason Peters, have the potential of being as good as Jon Runyan and Tra Thomas, who he feels were the best offensive tackle combination in the history of the franchise.
He thinks the defensive line will be better with a healthy Victor Abiamiri. He's the biggest of the team's defensive ends, which could make the line better against the run and more powerful.
The Eagles coach thinks Leonard Weaver will help them put more pressure on defenses. Weaver is one of the better blocking fullbacks in the league and can also catch the football out of the backfield.
Reid thinks Quintin Mikell, Stewart Bradley and Broderick Bunkley are young guys who are ready to step into leadership positions.
Big Red emphasized that this team has to go out and put in the work needed to develop into a team.
He emphasized how important it is that their offensive linemen get the chance to play together.
Reid said a few times, "The work starts this weekend".
