Jackson Has Something To Prove

I could look in DeSean Jackson's face and see that he's got something else to prove this year.

He said he wasn't watching the draft but had a fiend tell him that the Birds selected Jeremy Maclin in the first round.  Jackson played it off like it was no big deal but the eyes said something else.

Maclin is going to make more money this year than Jackson even though he hasn't proven anything.  I'll guarantee you that DeSean and his agent are going to be knocking on Joe Banner's door next year.

Here you had this reporter asking DeSean whether Maclin, who Jackson knows has a lot to learn, could repeat what Jackson did a year ago by coming in here and making an immediate impact.

As for returning punts, Jackson was asked whether he wanted to continue returning punts.  He said he going to continue doing what he's been doing all along and that means returning punts.

Jackson knows the Eagles stole him in the second round, now you have this kid coming in here making more money than he is in the very first year of the contract.

Jackson says he will help Maclin as much as he can and I"m sure he will be DeSean wants to prove something to Maclin and everybody else.

I think we've got ourselves some good old fashion competition. I expect a big year out of Jackson because he knows he can take his game to another level.

Jackson's eyes were glaring at some of the questions he was getting.  I asked whether he had an advantage last year because he had played in the west coast offense while in college.

DeSean said it was no big deal and that a smart player could pick it up any way.  The truth of the matter is that it's a big deal if a player has been exposed to the west coast offense.

Maclin has a lot to learn and Reid is anxious to see him learn it.  Kevin Curtis had better hurry back because he's leaving the door open and this rookie might jump through it.
