Eagles sign eight of their 11 picks

The Philadelphia Eagles now have eight of their 11 draft picks signed, but first rounder Danny Watkins is not among them. However, second-round safety Jaiquawn Jarrett is.

Jarrett got a four-year deal, as did third-round corner Curtis Marsh, LB Casey Matthews, K Alex Henery, RB Dion Lewis, G Julian Vandervelde, C Jason Kelce and LB Brian Rolle. By my math, that means only Watkins and the two seventh rounders, LB Greg Lloyd and FB Stanley Havili, are left unsigned.

I’m not sure exactly why the seventh rounders aren’t signed, but I’d tell them the Raheem Brock story. Remember he was a seventh-round pick of the Eagles back in 2002 and one of the last to sign? The Eagles ran out of rookie money and cut him before he signed. Whoops.

It’s not known what’s holding up the Watkins deal, but the first rounders are probably looking around for someone to sign first and then use the slotting system to gauge their value.

Joe Panos (yes, that Joe Panos. Former Eagle who helped protect some Wisconsin students when they all crushed one another going down on the field) told Philly.com that, “Nothing’s imminent, but we’re working on it.”

Stay tuned.

I would not be surprised to see LB’s Rolle and Clayton work out the Safety postions some this camp (while Nate Allen rehabs) In fact I would not be surprised to Rolle beome a full-time Safety by next year, he has the build, speed, the nose for the ball and physicality to be a good Strong Safety, I am not sure about his deep, pure speed and coverage abilities, but put him down in the box and he’ll take your head off and really help versus a strong Running team

No Paulman. We do not need anymore project player conversions. You said the same crap about Ernie Sims last year. Let the guy play the position he knows how to play. It takes more than speed to just move from LB to safety. Stop it. Then you’ll be one of the first to make jokes of them always trying to convert players.

I see the Bucs just signed all of their picks so we should be able to sign Watkins soon.

Scorpiodsu – Thank you.

I am so sick of project guy. Change position guy. and my favorite Torn ACL guy.

The news of the Eagles not pursuing Bradley could finally mean an end to those foolish “save some money and claim we’re doing everything to win a Superbowl crap”.

When the Eagles official cut Ernie Sims I am going to put that article in a gold frame over my fish tank.

Once this Kolb trade is consummated, I’ll feel much better. Schill, I hope they make significant signings, or the trolls we be out from under their rocks, irritating us.

so is silence a good thing for the eagles? every other team announcing signings and the eagles not saying a peep. seen andy reid on the nfl network earlier and not willing to talk about any possible moves other than the rookie signings. this mean we are in the running for say a ray edwards and reggie bush?

yeah i hope they are not spending too much time on rookies and not enough time on getting legit players. for a team who said they would be aggessive in putting together a plan to put a team together to win it all. not seeing it yet. just hard to be patient when reading all the signings.

It’s still early boy’s. Almost all our picks are signed. Watkins by tomorrow, DRC, a high pick & Edwards by Friday. I’m cool with that start. Now get me a good DT, LB, & OT & we are good to go.

More ridiculousness – nothing new. All but 1 or 2 will get cut and they’ll be on the practice squad anyway. Its funny how over the past 3 years we keep getting these 3rd round corners and they turn out to be duds…what a waste of picks. We need headhunter draft guys here like the ravens and steelers.

Why is Dunlap still lingering around???? I hope he doesnt make the roster…. Plenty of other guys in FA that I’ll trust over him…… 4year deals for the rookies they sign means the eagles are thinking very highly of their draft choices!!!

Again Rocko – the Packer passed for over 300 yards against the ‘headhunter’ steelers in the playoffs last year – the 3rd round dudes (including a 7th rd draft pick safety) held Rodgers to under 200 passing yards in the playoffs – we did not lose to the packers because of dud cornerbacks – we lost becuase Akers missed 2 FGs and Celek stepped out and came back in on a 2 pt conversion. the top rcvr for the pack was driver with a grand total of 55 yards!

Songs – again with the money comment – now it is even more ridiculus and stupid and petty and childish and highlights even more your ignorance – by the new CBA all teams – that’s allof them- have to spend 99% of the cap

Epitome of incompetence – 10 of 11 DP signed….

Here’s a good a idea guys….Let’s have a guy on the roster with an upside in the position we need and let him sign someplace else…..then trade up in the 1st round of the draft to get a guy that can’t crack the starting line up…and get that player instead of a Stud Safety that’s there to replace a serious void at Safety.

Only to now pursue the guy you let go and pay him as a heraled free agent and call a press conference as if this guy is Reggie White reincarnated.

Watch this guys….

They’re going to roll out Babin and DRC as if it’s the T.O. trade and Jevon Kearse signing.

AGGRESSIVE

@lewdoggie20….. Stephen Tulloch would be a better fit here in Philly….. Great size very quick and a great tackler…… He can get through the gaps and with Washburn in place he knows how to work within the system to bring pressure……. reading gaps perhaps…… Polznoski signed with the Jags i think??

Alright my last comment of the night because i got work to do unless I’m baited to log back on because of someone’s stupidity…Navy, the same could go for Vicks interception man. You’re the only one who seems to think that we have shut down corners – every commentator from schefter, lacanfora, Gcobb bloggers and the whole Eagle Nation seems to think and believe that we need better corners. Navy…Put down the green Kool-aid jug buddy and get with the program, you honestly sound like Joe “Clown” Banner and the other front office puppets – damn the packers, this is a new year.

What if the birds sign free agent Leonard davis to a 1yr deal…… He’ll help out and has a nasty side that the birds need up front…… Has the experience and we dont even know if rookie danny Watkins is ready with such a long drawn out Labor deal that took place….. he’ll get into the swing of things a lot quicker than the rookies who have had very little time to learn the playbook!!!

you think there is a chance we get tulloch? is marion barber worth being the number 2 running back? don’t really like him but he is a td machine. could save mccoy from running short yards around the goalline.

SI Jim Trotter is reporting. Looks like this may be the deal. Az will surrender DRC, a No. 2 pick & a new contract for kolb that likely includes AT LEAST $30 million guaranteed.

Not a bad pick-up if you can get him on the cheap, HE actually played pretty decent the last 1/2 of of last season and actually jelled more with J Kinta than he ever has with Romo..As a 4th WR and a Red-zone threat, I would think about tendering him an offer and especially since P Burress looks like he wants to play for the Giants/Steelers again….
WR S Rice agreed to a big deal with Seattle Seahawks.. Now the Seahawks have a pretty good WR corps with Rice, Williams and Golden Tate.. HE signed a reported $48 Million Deal with about $16-$18 Million of gauranteed $$$$… S Holmes agreed to a $50 Million Deal with $24 of it with Guaranteed $$$ with the Jets earlier..ANyone guess what Rosenhaus will ask for for D-JAx…

Paul, probably he’ll get something similar. But not until the end of the season. DJax isn’t getting a raise this year. If he thinks so, he’s forgotten who he was dealing with.
