Media Are Showing Their Cards

The Eagles lockeroom is not devestated.  Yes they are disappointed to see Jeremiah Trotter be cut, but this happens every year in the NFL.  Trot was a great player and an outstanding leader but the media are putting their feelings into this story.

The team isn't going to miss somebody doing good interviews, the media are going miss that.  Yes all of us in the media will miss Jeremiah and his honest and straight forward answers but that's got nothing to do with playing football.

Trot is the kind of guy who resonates here in Philadelphia and that's great.  If he didn't have those knee problems, he would probably be able to man the middle linebacker position for another five years but that's not the case.  I have all the respect in the world for Trot because I think he played a more physical style of Mike linebacker that anybody I"ve ever seen.  Trot was a great player and is an outstanding person but him being cut this isn't something new to the NFL. Hall Of Famers are cut .  That's the history of the NFL.  It happens every year.

I hear all this stuff about how the Birds are going to miss Trot's leadership, but they need a middle linebacker who can make all the plays even more.  I can understand somebody arguing that Jeremiah should be kept on the team because of his playing ability but all of the stuff about missing a guys personality is overrated.

It was hard to listen to all of the questions to Jeremiah Trotter's former teammates about whether they thought he had lost a step or not.  Of course nobody is going to say they thought he lost a step or two but that doesn't mean they didn't think it. Those types of questions don't serve any purpose because they aren't necessarily answered truthfully, and if they were it would be disrepectful to a great player like Jeremiah Trotter.

Jevon Kearse was back at practice and it's going to be important that he get some work this Sunday.  He was held out of the Carolina game so some work against Pittsburgh is needed..  Brian Dawkins was also back in action today. Dawk also needs some work against the Steelers because you know he won't play the last game. .  L.J. Smith was back out there getting some work but chances are he still will likely sit out the Pittsburgh game.  Punt returner Jeremy Bloom was back in action despite his toe problems.  Veteran defensive tackles Ian Scott and Monte Reagor were working today as well.  They'll be auditioning against Pittsburgh.

I took another look at the Eagles game against the Panthers and I was amazed at the quickness of Reagor.  He was flying off the ball and spinning alah, Dwight Freeney.  This fella can rush the passer.  He's going to help them on pass downs.

ESPN reports that the Denver Broncos and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers may be interested in Trot.
