Soon to be 31-year old Kevin Curtis was complaining about pain in his groin, which led to additonal surgery but that had nothing to do with selecting Jeremy Maclin in the first round?
According to Andy Reid, the Eagles approached the draft with the same mindset as if Curtis was same age as DeSean Jackson with no injury problems. That doesn't even make sense but Reid made that claim to the local media.
Why make that claim?
You and I know that the Birds have a beeper that goes off in the front office every time one of their players turns 30. I imagine it will go off two times on July 17th when Curtis turns 31.
They're going to try to tell people that they have no concern about Curtis, who missed 7 games a year ago and had to have additional surgery during the off season.
Why deny the obvious?
They wouldn't be doing their jobs if they weren't concerned about Curtis and interested in giving themselves some security at that position.
It's obvious with Curtis getting ready to turn 31, coming off of a season where he missed 7 games and recovering from additonal surgery, the Birds should prepare for him not being there.
It's not a conspiracy to make plans for replacing players who are getting older. It's called good planning and it's doing your job.
PhiladelphiaEagles.com interviewed Curtis in an attempt to ease any concerns about his health.
The wide receiver said he wasn't quite a 100% a year ago but felt good enough to play.
He admitted that he had the additional sugery because his groin was bothering him and he hopes to be 100% when he gets to training camp.
I think and hope he'll be fine but you and I know the way the Eagles think.
