Jim Johnson is taking some time off from his duties as the Eagles defensive coordinator because of health problems.
Johnson is battling cancer and was coaching from a motorized vehicle during the mini camp. He is undergoing chemotherapy which weakens the patient.
Eagles head coach Andy Reid made a statement and basically said that Johnson was struggling physically.
"I told him to take care of himself first, and when he's ready to come back, come back." Eagles coach Andy Reid said Monday.
"I'd like to tell you he's great, but he's not. He's struggling right now," said Reid, who said he talks to Johnson every day on the telephone. "I told him, when you feel like it, come back."
The defensive coordinator duties will be taken over by Sean McDermott the team's secondary coach. McDermott has been with the Birds for 11 years.
