Akers Says He Lost $3.7 Million Dollars On A Ponzi Scheme

The New York Mets owners invested money with Bernie Madoff, now they’re in terrible financial shape and running the risk of losing the baseball team. Former Eagles kicker David Akers knows how they feel because he told a federal grand jury in Austin, Texas on Monday that he had lost $3.7 million dollars in a Ponzi scheme.

According to Akers, he invested millions of dollars with the advice of Kurt Barton, the former chief executive of Triton Financial, a financial management company. Federal prosecutors believe that Barton built a $50 million Ponzi scheme by lying to investors.

Not only is Akers a possible victim of the Ponzi scheme, but so are former Eagles quarterbacks Koy and Ty Detmer and former Eagles safety Sean Considence.

And we are supposed to feel sorry for him while 9.2 % of the Population doesn’t have a job and countrless others are underemployed and even stopped searching.. Didn’ the turn down a 2 year Deal to remain with the Eagles for close to $5 Million … Sorry Davem you are good guy and a good kicker, but you need to do a better job on keeping up with your own personal finances.. .

I rarely rail against injustice in the world – but this is a case of injustice – if a dude walks up and sticks a knife or gun in my face and says give me your wallet – I have been robbed – I feel bad, people sympathize… dude – that sucks. And I probably lost about$100 and have the hassle of getting all my cards/DL etc taken care of. You can probably make a claim to your personal propert/renters homeowners insurance If the guy that robbed me gets caught – he gets an armed robbery charge and does hard time.

Switch the scene – get cuaght up in a ponzy scheme where you were lied to and defrauded – you probably lose a good percentage of your net worth, nobody has sympathy (you should have paid attention – thoise results were too good), you can’t make a claim, and if the dude gets caught (many years later when the scheme crumbles) he will use his ill-gotten gains to defend himself and at worst he probaly gets some prison camp in the woods –
becuase he isn’t ‘dangerous’

I put my Akers game shirt on E-Bay and stated that the proceeds will be given to Akers for him to help re-coup some of his losses.. So far not 1 offer…
