The Eagles wrapped things up their OTA's today at the Nova Care complex. It was another day of Reid getting more involved in the the defensive side of the ball.
No longer does Reid stand-by during the defensive drills and leave things up to Jim Johnson. Now he seems to be coaching the defensive line during the defensive period.
He says he believes in Sean McDermott and that may be true but he doesn't believe in him as much as he did Johnson. At least he doesn't believe in him as much, yet.
Jeffrey Lurie was standing on the sidelines this morning watching practice.
One play Jeremy Maclin was jammed pretty good by one of the defensive backs as he ran a clear out route, going outside and deep.
He trotted back to the offensive side of the ball expecting to take the play off. To his surprise Andy and Marty had him jump in ofr the next play.
Maclin came off the line with smooth stride. He started to lengthen the stride more and more. The next thing you know he was flying by one of the corners like he was stuck in quick sand.
Donovan McNabb let it fly and hit Maclin streaking at about 55 yards deep.
I saw Lurie try to suppress the smile that was forming on his face.
DeSean was doing his thing as usual. Slicing inside to catch the ball then turning on the burners.
On one play he ran a quick post corner and almost broke the corner's ankles.
They've still got Jason Avant working the middle and catching everything thrown in his direction. Hank Baskett had some good OTA practices as well.
Reggie Brown made quite a few plays as well.
This was a passing camp and the offensive skill people really looked sharp. They should be headed for a big year.
Second year defensive end Bryan Smith hurt his knee yesterday so he didn't workout today. I didn't see the injury yesterday but if he's hurt, he's hurt.
David Akers is kicking the ball well. His kickoffs have been deep in the end zone, plus he boomed a few 52 yard field goals last week.
