From what I hear, the Eagles haven't really begun negotiations with veteran free agent running back Warrick Dunn. Chances are that Dunn's agent leaked a story that the Birds are negotiating with them in order to try to get attention from other teams.
The Eagles are going to give Lorenzo Booker and LeSean McCoy all of the reps in training camp. They need the work for a number of reasons. Booker needs the reps so the Eagles can see whether he can play. McCoy needs to the work, so he can learn the offensive system.
They already have a good idea what Dunn can do so the Birds will probably start talking seriously with him after a week of training camp. That will give them enough time to see what the situation is with their other backs.
After a week of two-a-day practices, they'll know whether Booker can do the job and they'll have a good idea of how far McCoy is away from being ready to play.
