In the morning the Eagles must have installed 50 pass plays. They spent nearly 30 minutes putting in pass play after pass play. Jeremy Maclin should have been here for this.
DeSean Jackson is ready to have a big year. He runs fast quick and sharp routes. Kevin Curtis had a good day but collided with somebody late in the workout to suffer the injury to his thigh.
Maclin could be in here taking advantage of the opening. Instead is somewhere in Philly playing the 20010 version of Madden.
LeSean McCoy is taking advantage of the fact that Brian Westbrook is injured. McCoy is getting the reps that BWest would have been getting. It's going to force McCoy to develop sooner rather than later.
The receivers started out by running a slant, first versus a corner playing off the receiver then with the cornerback playing off the receiver.
Next up they ran what's call a "speed cut", which is a five-yard out route with the emphasis on speed rather than making a distinct stop and cut. The break is rounded off.
Curtis and DeSean Jackson are quick guys who are able to run this route with great effectiveness if they're not bumped on the line of scrimmage.
Following that route is a standard twelve yard curl route. Jackson shows the corners the threat of the deep route, then he breaks it off. It makes me think of Cole Hamels fastball and change up or Brad Lidge circa 2008, with that fastball then wicked slider.
Jackson could survive in the league by just running those two routes because he's coming off the line leaving fumes. Any defensive back in the league has to respect his speed coming out and when the DB comes out of his back pedal, he's susceptible to the curl or comeback route.
The fourth route they worked on was a ten yard square out. The key to this route is again the receivers abilities to sell a deep route. Again once the defensive backs comes out of his back pedal, he can't drive on the out.
