Win Or Lose The Eagles Aren’t Playing Good Football

This game between the Eagles and the 49ers was looking like a laugher for a good while, but it’s not looking that way any more. The score is 23-17 as Alex Smith and the Niners have gone on two long touchdown drives.

They have the ball and are looking to do it again plus the Eagles defense doesn’t seem to be able to stop them. Remember that this 49ers team had only scored three offensive touchdowns through three games and they marched for two in this third quarter.

Michael Vick has had a big day throwing the football, so far he’s thrown for 296 yards on 19 for 30 with two touchdowns and one interception. Unfortunately our defense is letting the mediocre Alex Smith have a career day. He’s 17 of 25 for 269 yards with zero interceptions two touchdowns.

Remember that Smith has been a bust throughout all of career yet today he’s having one of the best games of his career against Juan Castillo’s defense.

What can you say about rookie kicker Alex Henery? He’s missed to short chip-shot field goals.

Well?

Like I said.

Next offseason maybe the eagles will value the linebacker and safety positions.

How the new kicker looking?

8-8 season

Maybe worse.

Just give us a defensive coordinator with an actual scheme and some grit at Linebacker and Safety.

It’s also time to get a new head coach. What you say guys?

I told ya.

I choose lose. Someone tell me how Andy Reid still has a job after tomorrow. Two home losses back to back by blowing huge leads against teams you’re better than? That equals FIRED in the book of any owner who actually cares about winning.

This team is 1-3 and basically their season is over after week four. “The Dream Team” is 1-3. What’s Reid’s excuse this week?? This team has just gotten sloppy. They have no discipline at all and that’s CLEARLY a reflection on their head coach who has so little self-discipline that both his kids are in the clink and he can’t keep his hands off the nearest cheeseburger. FIRE REID’S WORTHLESS FAT BUTT TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!

After this game I am now 100% sure that if Andy Reid does not win a super bowl this year he will be fired. I dont care if he wins every game from here on after he will be fired and for once the Eagles fans will have something to look forward to for the 2012 season.

Im not a I told you so type guy but I said all along this game was suspect as I said last week was suspect. This team right now is just not good and it happens look at the Cowboys last year and how they had all that talent but just fell apart until Jason Garrett took over.

I did however love the lets go Phillies chant!

DCar….while I agree its time to move on from Reid, I won’t be ecstatic. More like a sense that there was a great missed opportunity over the past decade. For me its a with a sort of resigned sigh that I will accept any changes. Reid brought a lot of things to this team. Purpose. Stability….he just couldn’t seem to get the team over the hump. I liken him to hockey coach Jacques Martin….always even keel…never too high or low…always competitive, but just doesn’t seem to have the ability to rise to the occasion.
That being said, we have to be careful what we wish for…many of you hoped for Vick, and look how that’s turning out!! I can guarantee you’ll be complaining a lot more if we get stuck with another Kotite, or Rhodes……

You know half of me is just torn up that this team is so bad, but the other half is actually happy that they keep getting embarrassed. I’ve hated Andy Reid for so many season and had to endure so many morons telling me how great he was that I do get some perverse satisfaction of him continuing to look like a jackass week after week. The number of Reid defenders is now down to Howard Eskin, the blind, Dave Sparado, and a few homers on this board.

We have a genious head coach and he has to show the world he is a genious. The Ronnie Brown pass from the 1 yard line may be the dumbest play in the history of pro football.
I have typed before that there is a big difference between stupid and the element of surpise.
It seems like we as fans live and die as Andy Reid continues to experiment with gadget plays and lose games. It comes down to a complete lack of respect for the fans and the owners as he tries to show the world he has devised a new way to coach on game day.
This has as much talent as any previous team, but the coaching staff has failed unlike any before.

drummerwinslow
October 2, 2011 4:44 pm

When McNabb and BWest were running this team, the F.O. wouldn’t spend a few more dollars to get them some help. Now, having given Reid a blank check (because the Eagles could no longer compete against the Phillies’ ability to draw the fans’ merchandising dollar), Reid has fully proven that he was the biggest problem all along.

No coach could do so little with so much talent.

what? I said he needs to go, but that I’m disappointed over all the missed opportunities over the past decade. What exactly is wrong with that?

This was, perhaps, the worst called game I’ve seen in a long time. Passing 75% of the time in the first half, while I disagree, can be defended. Passing 80% of the time with a 20 pt lead is undefendable.

Birds did what they’ve done for 3 str8 weeks. Let a team hang around. Slow starts, early turnovers, pathetic redzone…..and not eating up clock.

can blame D a lot, but game should have ended a half hour earlier.

56 called passes and 12 called runs. 82%%%% I think that’s a new record!!

IanIJM

It is difficult to swallow when you know the team is good enough to win football games and they just don’t. It’s a total lack of effort across the board and that’s the HEAD COACHES FAULT! Motivation comes from the coach. Discipline comes from the coach and you saw for youself, on full display today, just how undisciplined this football team is. Killer penalties, missed field goals (Henery hits those two and the games a nail biter but Eagles win by 5), unbelieveably bad ball protection, missed blocks, poor tackling … these things are all the hallmark of undisciplined teams and, not coincidentally, also the hallmarks of Andy Reid coached teams.

He needs to be fired. Tomorrow. Replace him with a bag of hammers. It couldn’t possible do any worse.

vinnietheevictor you are SPOT ON. Another classic example of Reid’s dim-witted attempts at being clever. “We’ve run the ball successfully the last three weeks, so they’ll be expecting us to run! I know … I’ll pass!!! 82% of the time!! That’ll fool ’em!!”

We’re 1-2 and one of those losses was a brutal road game. Noone came out of that one unscathed. We lost a heartbreaker to the Giants. It’s a tough week to deal with and everyone wants to see this team bounce back Sunday,no?

WTF are all you b.s. wannabe coaches talking about? I coach h.s. ball and you all sound like mommys and daddys in the stand who know better. Are some of his faults legit, yeah. But does he have qualities of a great nfl headman, hell yes.

We’re getting nothing from this draft and that hurts.

The Giants were ready for everything and anything. Hats off to that team.
Cowgirls and Deadskins…..horrible teams. Dont even tell me either one of those squads is on the Birds /Giants level.

Theres to much talent on this team for this b.s. talk. Its week 4 and your talking about firing a coach…thats Cleveland and Cincy b.s.. This is Philly…tricounty proud fans who dont give up.

Look at how the Pats lost.Look at how the Steelers had to fight.Packers havent had a cakewalk yet.

n other words relax. Defend your beatdown of the headman and continue it,cause some of its warranted..but the fire him crap is a waste of energy and blog space.

Hey Drummer I agree with all you say! You are right except this one thing, don’t give me any crap about a weak NFC East. What superstars did we have while we were winning those division titles and making the conference. Yeah Reid blow those Conf champs out the B=hole, but I remmber the division being loaded with talent.

We suck I will give you that, and I am about 2 inche fro asmacking the fire Reid button, but don’t change histroy like communist russia and tell me the past was not real. We kicked Arse fair and square back in the day and if tha is how we as fans are going to roll with history then it would be proper that this fan base never get another winning season and get to slumber in the old lions, saints, and raiders neighborhood of ad fas.

I am mad at the Freaking Eagles, but I am equally mad at the Freaking defeatist, woe damn me I can’t enjoy a good season fan base also.

Can you see how insane this lose has made me, I am mad at everyone. Dam fans crying about wining, now you got something to cry about, enjoy it. Providence will not be so kind to a nasty fan base, our next coach is going to suck, and the next will suck you watch and see. Why becasue we Eagles fans as loyal and passionate as we are, in the greater scheme of the universe this is what we deserve.

Reid is gone if he does not turn this crap around, but I think that the universe is done with us fans also. How long can you complain about good fortune be for fortune will not sit with you. Superbowls? Hell we got beat by the better team back th………………………………………………………… arrrrrr forget it I don’t even know what the hell I am talking about.

Eagles have lost 5 home games in a row. They blew a 20 point lead to the 32nd ranked offensive team. The gave up 400+ yards to the same 32nd ranked team.
Reid says he has to do a better job and it’s not only the defense it’s the offense to. No shit Dick Tracey how did yoy come to that conclusion you moron. I’m happy for Ackers. Pencil neck missed two easy field goals. Let’s spend even less on linebackers next year, let’s add a few more gadget plays on offense and let’s hire a hockey coach as defensive coordinator. That is asfter we win the superbowl this year because we are all in. Go Birds.

How long will the QB, the offensive line, the kicker, the rookies, the defense, the coordinators, the receivers, the bust free-agent acquisitions, the linebackers, etc. get the blame?

Isn’t the coach responsible for them all?

That’s like blaming an unsupervised, young child for his bad behavior. It’s the parents’ responsibility. A child will ALWAYS behave as a child.

One more game in the coaching change column. It’s somewhat sad to me since the Eagles have had more success in Reid’s time than in any other era save the 1960 Chip (a Championship is the only thing that supersedes Reid). But the reality is this: three consecutive 4th Qtr collapses, 2 for 7 in the RZ, repeated ball security issues, poor tackling, key dropped passes, inability to convert short yardage, or stop it on D, *sigh* do I need to go on? Something’s gotta give. I’ve told many people that I expect the Eagles to lose every week now until they give me a reason to expect them to win. They are simply playing bad football and the responsibility has to fall on Coach Reid.

What superstars did we have while we were winning those division titles and making the conference? To begin with, McNabb and Westbrook.

People seem to forget that McNabb was a terror (before Reid got him killed). He had his flaws, but he was tough as nails (3 TDs on a broken ankle) and his scrambling ability made him virtually unstoppable. And West was the master of the screen. No running back could run the screen like West.

We also had two pro-bowl corners, Troy Vincent/Bobby Taylor, along with Brian Dawkins and Jeremiah Trotter. Add players like Deuce Staley and a few others.

I give Reid credit for being ahead of the curve on the passing craze. That caught a lot of teams off guard, but not every team is built to stop the pass.

Let’s not re-write history here. There were more than a few Ray Rhodes holdovers who carried Reid’s teams, but since Reid put “his” team together, it’s been garbage.

this team is poorly coached and the talent is not that good people…. throw out the free agent signings and the defense is not good at all. The Eagles drafts are a big reason they suck this year. Roseman and Reid are terrible at evaluating talent and to let an o-line coach take over a defense for a “super bowl” contending team was a joke…. Reid is the blame and Lurie needs to grow a set and clean house. He needs a new GM and coach.

I’ve said all along that this team has won in spite of Reid, not because of him.

Case in point, Vick throws for more than 400 yards in a loss. The loss is a direct result of Reid’s inability to assemble and coach a football team.

this team has more than enough great players… Our problem is we have a defensive coordinator who doesnt belong coaching in this league.. and an offense that is sloppy and makes too many mistakes for to over come the bad defense and the overmatched coordinator..

the worst thing about this loss is that it tells me I cant trust this team at all.. I dont have faith in this team, especially the defense… They prove there isnt a lead they cant blow… The offense is liable to make the most incredible mistakes at any time and it doesnt matter who the Qb or Rb is… they can throw for 300.. run for 125 + yds a game, it doesnt matter…

this team is suspect and not to be trusted…

He rolled up 400+, but at any point were you…”wow he’s sooo dominating!”

In the 2nd half, Vick had 5 pass attempts in the red zone. Results:
1 of 3 for 2 yards and 2 scrambles for 5 yards.

I am not saying he was the reason for the loss at all, but despite his yards, his performance was not overly impressive…especially in the Zone.

games like exhibited today by the Eagles would crush me in the past..but my eyes are wide open and I’ll never fall for the hye again. When this team hire a failed offensive line coach as defensive coordinator, ignore the safety position, draft a 26 year old fireman in the first round, ignore the linebacker position in the early rounds, refuse to pick up linebacker or trade for one….what can we expect?

I knew this team would be ass once Juan was given the job.

Reid coaches with enough deficiencies by himself on gamedays..throw in an incompetent coach on defense and that’s a recipe for disaster. I say bring back Rory Segrest to assist Juan. to tell you the truth..

Take note…This is Harbaugh’s first season as a head coach and he’s already better than Reid in the challenging review department. He wins 2 in a row on the road. Yet Andy looks lost and hesitate when it’s time to throw his red hanky. I just tired of this act.
