Memorable Service For Coach Johnson

There was quite a turn out yesterday for the memorial service for long-time Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson at Lincoln Financial Field.

There were a lot of memories a quite a few tears shed as the Johnson family had a private service among friends and colleagues of Johnson's.

Former Eagles running back Herb Lusk, who pastors Greater Exodus Baptist Church in North Philly, was the minister who conducted the service.

Former Colts General Manager Bill Tobin talked about meeting 50 years ago when both of them entered Missouri University as freshmen.   He l went through Coach Johnson's year by year and team by team career in football.

Coaches and players from around the league left training camp to come to Philadelphia and pay their respects for a guy who had deposited in their lives.

Johnson's football family was there in abundance.  He football kids were all there.  St. Louis Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo, Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh and Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier.

A number of former players came back to honor their former coach.  Jeremiah Trotter, Dhani Jones, Troy Vincent, Al Harris, Sean Considine and Bobby Taylor all made the journey.

Coach Reid sums it up by saying that Coach Johnson's legacy will continue in the coaches and players who he taught, helped and mentored.
