Eagles May Sign Former Cowboy TE

According to Jason La Confora of NFL.com, the Eagles may sign tight end Tony Curtis this weekend. Andy Reid talks later this morning so I’m sure we’ll get the information soon.

Curtis is a big physical tight end who can block.¬† He’s not much a pass receiver, having only caught three touchdowns in his four-year career. He would help the Birds improve in all the 3rd and one situations.

Notice that Curtis played for two teams that believe in running the football.  It seems to be a intentional move to be more physical this year upfront.

I like this move if they make it because they should upgrade over Matt Schobel who can’t block and can’t run.

I think the Eagles would have to be pleased with what they’ve gotten out of free agent signee Rob Myers.¬† He had a good game against the Colts, catching four passes.¬† Myers is the fastest tight end they currently have that is active.

If Curtis were to prove out, they could go to battle with Brent Celek, Rob Myers and Tony Curtis.  They should send Schobel packing.
