The Eagles are getting a full day's work out of Michael Vick. He ran in from the field following his after-practice workout with the team's quarterback coaches and doubled-over in exhaustion.
I think he's loving it. He playing football now and doing what he loves to do.
Vick jokes around with his teammates and the other Eagles personnel he works with on a daily basis.
They said he was last one in and first one out when he played for the Atlanta Falcons, but that's not the case any more.
He's in at six in the morning with Donovan McNabb to get in an early workout. During the season they'll be in to workout and get in some film study.
He's the last one off the field.
You can believe he sat in prison and wondered whether this opportunity would come his way again.
It has and chances are he will take the field on Thursday to play professional football again.
After going through a full two-hour practice where he ran many of the scout team's plays, Vick got in another workout of about 45 minutes.
He runs in every day from the practice field to avoid the group of writers waiting for him to finish his workout.
He went through some accuracy drills with Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb, then he ran and cut, then ran and cut some more. The running and cutting drills are part of the conditioning plan the Birds are using to try to get him back in football shape.
They had the cones set up for him to cut off of and it looked like the kind of drill that the car companies do with their speedy vehicles.
I don't know that he's still running a 4.3 forty-yard dash but he still has the after-burners. The fact that he has a rifle for a arm and jet propulsion in his back are the reasons the Eagles decided to use their mercy to sign him and attempt to rehabilitate his image.
He starts out practice with McNabb, Kolb, A.J. Feeley and Adam DiMichelle doing the quarterback footwork drills. They do them over and over and over.
He's getting better at them, but I realized that he hadn't been doing this drill in his first NFL career. He's learning to get his lower body into his throws.
Next up they start making different types of throws. These drills to become automatic because quarterbacks don't have time to think about them when they're executing during a game.
They're busy thinking about the routes and the coverages.
I'll go through all of the drills and break them down at a later date, but the Eagles quarterbacks are working on the fundamentals extensively with Vick.
I see other media members yawning because they bored, but I know I'm watching the reprogramming of a multi-million dollar weapon.
Michael Vick's best football days are ahead of him.
