Adam Caplan of Scout.com tweets that Brian Westbrook will indeed play on Thursday night against the Jaguars.
That's all well and good because that means that he should be fine to start week 1 against the Panthers, and that's what's most important. Personally, if he is in there for more than a series or two, I think that's too much.
Brian Westbrook knows this offense as well as anyone. He knows where to run with the ball, who to block and what routes to run from all different positions. Other than to get back into the flow of a game a little bit, he does not need extensive preseason work to be effective at the start of the regular season.
And to take that a step further, I'd also like to see him pulled from regular season games that have already been decided. The Eagles can tend to pile up the points and when that happens, get him out of there. You can always put him back in if need be. One too many carries here and there adds up at the end of the season and we saw in last year's playoffs that the offense isn't the same without him healthy.
