Local NAACP To Have Pro-Vick Rally At Linc

The same NAACP leader who criticized Donovan McNabb for not running with the ball more has decided to try to ride the coattails of another black quarterback in order to get some attention.

J. Whyatt Mondesire, president of the local NAACP will again attempt to get in the spotlight as he leads a pro-Michael Vick rally tommorow at the Linc.

I still haven't gotten over wondering why the local head of the National Association for the Advancement Of Colored People, which was founded by the likes of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., would be publicly criticizing an NFL football player for how he played.

I don't see anything wrong with people trying to support Michael Vick but unfortunately this isn't about Vick because Mondesire is simply trying another stunt to get attention.  Here's Mondesire's public statement:

"We believe Michael Vick has served his time, paid his debt to society and deserves a second chance and the animal rights groups want to hold him hostage for the rest of his life. We think that's patently unfair. It denies Michael Vick's basic civil rights, denies him his ability to make a living."

The bottomline is that it's going to be a zoo at Lincoln Financial Field tomorrow night.  All the animal rights people are going to be over there with their signs and buttons.

Regretfully the local and national media will be over there to give them exposure.  This is the part of the Vick signing that I don't like.

There are going to be a lot of people there who have nothing to do with football.
