Paul Domowitch of the Daily News says that two teams – the Jets and the Ravens – are keeping tabs on the Eagles wide receiver situation.
It makes perfect sense. The Eagles have a ton of wide receivers and most likely can't keep all of them. Many thought that Shaheer McBride had a chance to make the squad at the start of training camp. Well, he was cut yesterday and there are sure to be one or two more quality receivers to get the ax. Why not trade one?
The Jets, on the other hand, lost Laveranues Coles this offseason and only have Jerricho Cotchery left. David Clowney and Chansi Stuckey are just ok and I don't think anyone would be thrilled about having one of those guys in the starting lineup on opening day.
The Ravens definitely need WR's too. Derrick Mason is a very nice player, but he's getting up there in age. Mark Clayton is hurt and probably will be again soon. Demetrius Williams is…..Demetrius Williams. So they'll need help there. John Harbaugh's relationship with Andy Reid could help get a deal done.
The obvious player to go would be Reggie Brown. Not because he stinks, but because he has starting experience and could come in and play right away. The Jets wouldn't want Baskett (I don't think) because he's just a taller version of the average guys they have now. I would even step out on a limb and guess that Kevin Curtis could possibly be the guy to go. But he's damaged goods right now and the Jets wouldn't want him. If he was healthy, no one would be even talking about moving him anyway.
