Shawn Andrews was grinning like a Cheshire cat today when we talked to him at his locker. He will practice this afternoon and he's eager to get out there and get the chance to play next to his brother.
He was standing by his locker after going through the morning walk through as the team continued their preparation for the regular season.
Andrews said he's very positive about getting back on the field and playing the game of football which he loves. The Big Fella said he's not going to limit what he tries to do this afternoon, he's going to leave that up to the coaching and training staff.
The addition of Big Shawn would give a major shot in the arm to the team's running and passing game. Taking nothing away from Winston Justice but he can't shine Andrews' shoes as an offensive lineman.
Everybody says he just doesn't want to play because he's been out of action for this back injury but I can't say that because I've known a number of people who had back operations and were never able to function again.
The truth of the matter is that the medical field hasn't mastered the back operation. Big Shawn may have been truly unable to play all this time.
I'm still giving him the benefit of the doubt until I know for sure. I've had to back track on this situation to try to be fair.
I talked to his brother Stacy and he's looking forward to getting Big Shawn back out there. Stacy doesn't think that they're going to have a major problem getting the line playing on the same page.
He believes each play and every practice which they get to work together will make things better for the regular season.
Stacy said he's feeling better every day as he continues to rehabilitate his knee.
