The Eagles have put Shawn Andrews on Injured Reserve in order to place Jeff Garcia on the 53 man roster. This will mean Andrews’ season is over and he will be put on ice for the remainder of the 2009 campaign.
Backup right tackle Winston Justice impressed the Birds enough to make the move with Andrews. They feel he’s going to be solid enough to hold his own against some great pass rushers during the regular season.
The jury is out on Andrews because of his back and possibly because of his mindset. I don’t know which is more of a problem, his mindset or his back and nobody else knows that information but Shawn.
He has been an enigma because of his tremendous talent, health problems and battle with depression.
This move also could mean that the Birds are going to sign former Birds right tackle Jon Runyan to come in and provide depth behind Justice. The Birds had Runyan in for a workout last week to see where he was in regards to returning to action.
We’ll all have to wait and see what happens.
