Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said Kevin Kolb will be the starter at quarterback if Donovan McNabb can’t go, but he wouldn’t give in to the desires of some in the local media and guarantee that Kolb will play the entire game.
What is going on? I have never heard the media beg a coach to guarantee that a quarterback would play the entire game. It was quite a news conference this afternoon.
This is the NFL. These players are professionals who are paid millions of dollars to do a job. If they can’t do the job, the coach shouldn’t feel sorry for them and let them continue to mess up.
Since when have you ever heard a coach guarantee that a player was going to play the entire game regardless of how a player plays, especially at the quarterback position.
What if Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints are scoring a lot of points early? How far behind can the Eagles aford to get before tapping Kolb on the shoulder and telling him that Jeff Garcia is taking over?
There are no guarantees in professional sports. Is Kevin Kolb a baby or something?
Brad Lidge was perfect last year but Charlie Manuel has removed from the team’s closer role.
Would it be fair to the rest of the team to tell them, we’re going to sacrifice this game if we have to, so that Kevin will get a full game to show that he can play.
Am I missing something here?
