Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Eagles have brought former LB Jeremiah Trotter in for a workout. No, I’m serious.
“Just filed this blast from the past to espn: Eagles worked out former standout LB Jeremiah Trotter. Team wanted to see shape he was in,” Schefter said on Twitter.
Trotter hasn’t played in the NFL since 2007 because his knees are shot. If they are serious about bringing him in, they must not feel very good about their linebackers at all.
G. Cobb – Trotter had been telling friends and acquaintances that he was going to play again. Former Eagles defensive coordinator and current Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo had told Trot that he was going to give him a shot.
Working him out says a lot about what the Birds think of their defense and their situation at middle linebacker. As most of you know, Omar Gaither didn’t have a good game on Sunday.
He was struggling in an area that Trotter couldn’t improve on and that was in the passing game.
I think the reason they’re working out Trotter is because they saw the physical football that is being played in the NFC East. First it was the Giants and the Redskins, then it was the Giants and the Cowboys.
Gaither isn’t physical enough to pound with the big physical running games of the Giants, Cowboys and Redskins.
We’ll see if anything comes of it.
