How The Rooks Are Looking

C.J. Gaddis has improved drastically in his understanding of the coverages.  You can see the kid has much more confidence than he had last week.  I'm starting to see his quickness and athleticsm.

He almost finished up yesterday's practice with an interception.  I like the fact that he went for the pick rather than playing it safe.  I think this kid is going to get on the field before the season is out.

I see one major hole on the defense and it's at safety.  Other than Brian Dawkins, I'm not comfortable with any of the safeties starting full time.  I think Sean Considine and Quintin Mikell should be althernated at the other safety spot.  My lack of complete confidence in the other safeties is why I believe the progress of Gaddis could have an affect on the upcoming season.

This injury to L.J. is going to open things up at tight end for the rookie Brent Celek and free agent Lee Vickers.  I don't like either one of these guys when it comes to be a big time reciever.  If L.J. is not able to go for the entire season, it will take a weapon away from Donovan.  Both of these guys need a lot of work on their route running.

Yesterday, the rooks were working out while, Brodrick Bunkley, Shawn Andrews, Matt McCoy, Hank Baskett and Reggie Brown did speed, quickness and endurance drills.

Omar Gaither looked very good in the coverages.  He takes over when he's out there.  I expect the Eagles will get him on the field quite a bit and that won't make Jeremiah Trotter happy.  Omar has extemely high football IQ and should be a coaching candidate when he hangs up his cleats.

Throughout the practice you can't help but notice how Kolb is struggling with all of the information the coaches are flooding him with.  He's going to be glad to see Feeley and Holcomb.
