The Eagles have swung a deal for St. Louis Rams linebacker Will Witherspoon.  The move makes sense since Omar Gaither is hurt and not that good, and Jeremiah Trotter is healthy and not that good.
In exchange for Witherspoon, the Eagles sent WR Brandon Gibson and a 2010 pick, according to Jay Glazer of Foxsports.com.

Witherspoon spent the first four years of his career in Carolina and this is his fourth year with the Rams.  If nothing else, he should be somewhat familiar with the defensive scheme since he spent this year with Steve Spagnuolo, who of course is also a Jim Johnson disciple.
I’m sure he’s a better option than Levon Kirkland or Nate Wayne at this point.¬†
