We saw some of the real Brian Westbrook last week, as compared to that impostor who was wearing number 36 at the previous games and limping around on a sore ankle.
I think the Eagles need to create a game plan each week for both the real Westbrook and the impostor. They should give him the ball a few times early in the game and then decide which guy do they have that day, the real Westbrook or the imposter.
Once they get their answer they should use the appropiate game plan.
Last week they had the real one out there but they used the impostor game plan and didn’t use him enough. They should use the impostor as a decoy and give the ball to the real BWest.
I guess Westbrook was trying to tell the coaches he was the real Westbrook last week. BWest wants the football and he made no bones about it yesterday.
“I think I can make some plays when I have the ball in my hands, Westbrook told the gather of media in the Nova Care auditorium. It‚Äôs very hard to show people what you can do when you don‚Äôt have the opportunities.‚Äù
I know BWest wants the ball but he’s got to be healthy before he can really be persuasive to Mornhinweg when he approaches him during the games.
‚ÄúI talk to Marty throughout the game and let him know what I think would work. Sometimes he listens, sometimes he doesn‚Äôt. It‚Äôs his job as an offensive coordinator to do what he feels is best for the offense. I‚Äôve always let him know what I think works; most of the time just run plays.”
There should have been some way Westbrook could have showed Marty that his ankle was feeling better, that might have been more convincing.
Westbrook thinks there are going to be situations in which the Eagles offense finds themselves in this year where they’re not going to have any choice but to run the football.
“I think as the season goes on I will get those opportunities, and when I do, I think I will show people that I can still play.‚Äù
