Eagles Will Have To Adjust To New Skins Coordinator

Clemons on the trotEagles defensive cooridinator Sean McDermott said he was trying to get some video of Redskins assistant coach Sherman Lewis calling the plays for other teams.

Lewis took over the playcalling for head coach Jim Zorn in a very unorthodox move by the Skins.  Here you had a guy who wasn’t even on the coaching staff, being brought in to call the plays.

That’s a Daniel Snyder move because it makes no sense.  Snyder is the owner of the Skins and known for meddling with the football decisions.

McDermott says the change shouldn’t be that much of a factor because the Skins have the same playbook and they have the same personnel.

He discussed the fact that Will Witherspoon has been here too long will limit what they’ll be able to do defensively.

Babin sack Manning One of the reasons Witherspoon is here is because he’s familiar with the defense because of his time with Steve Spagnuolo in St. Louis Rams.

He expressed concern that Skins tight end Chris Cooley will be a formidable weapon to start on Monday night.  Tight ends have killed the Eagles so far this season and Cooley has been very effective against the Eagles.

They’re going to have to go with Jason Babin or Chris Clemmons, as a substitute for Victor Abiamiri who will miss the game.  One of those guys will be rotating with Juqua Parker at the left defensive end position.

With regards to the poor tackling of Asante Samuel – If you’re on the field you’re expected to tackle.

I was laughing aboth Samuel’s tackling yesterday, saying maybe Samuel doesn’t have a tackling clause in his contract.
