Today Cowboys Pro Bowl cornerback Terrence Newman wouldn’t give a clear answer about whether he was going to be shadowing DeSean Jackson all night long on Sunday night.
“I don’t know. You’ll have to ask the coaches. I’ll do whatever they tell me to do,” Newman said “It doesn’t matter. You just go out and play. If that’s something they want me to do, I’ll definitely do it.”
Newman did a good job of shadowing Carolina’s Steve Smith and Washington’s Santana Moss. He followed them all over the field and held them to few catches and minimal yards.
I hope Dallas puts Newman on Jackson because if they do, he will get cooked.
Newman isn’t a great one-on-one cornerback. I think he will try to jam Jackson at the line and if he misses him, look out, it will be bombs away.
He’s good but he’s not as quick nor as fast as Jackson. If DeSean gets chances to work against him witout any safety help, he will light the Cowboys defense up.
Much like a week ago, if the Birds can give McNabb time, he and the Eagles wide receivers can have their way with the Dallas secondary.
They lack consistency and have coverage problems at the safety position. I think their tight ends will have a big day.
