Notes From Phillies’ 9-3 Win Over Yankees

The Phillies earned their first win of the spring yesterday with a 9-3 win over the Yankees. Philadelphia closed the final game of the series with an impressive six-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning that put them ahead for good.

  • Joe Blanton got the start for the Phillies, and looked strong in his two scoreless innings of work. He allowed only two hits, and recorded a strikeout.
  • Blanton has had no issues with elbow so far through the first few weeks of Spring Training.
  • Jimmy Rollins got two hits in two at-bats.
  • Domonic Brown went 0-2 with a walk at the plate, but committed another error in the field. The outfielder misread a sinking line drive in the sixth inning, dove for the ball and missed. Brown’s fielding skills have been a serious issue for some time now, and he still appears to be having a great deal of difficulty reading certain plays.
  • Placido Polanco made his spring debut, and went 2-3 with an RBI.
  • Jim Thome also went 2-3 with a double in his second game of the spring.
  • Scott Elarton, a former top draft pick of the Astros, threw two perfect innings in relief of Blanton. Elarton hasn’t pitched in the major leagues for four years, but its trying to force his way back into the big leagues, if not in Philadelphia, than somewhere else.
  • A pair of young infielders, Hector Luna and Freddy Galvis, made strong contributions at the plate in this game.
  • Galvis recorded a sacrifice fly RBI in the sixth inning, and Luna came up with a bases-clearing three-run double in the same inning to blow the game open.
  • Brian Sanches, a veteran with some big league experience, struggled through his lone inning of work. The former Marlin gave up a run on four hits.
  • Michael Martinez hit a two-run homerun. The former Rule 5 pick is competing for one of the available spots on the bench.
  • David Herndon, another pitcher fighting for a bullpen spot, threw two scoreless innings.

Can anyone explain to me how a major league player cant field a fly ball? Dominique Brown is the Phillies top prospect and cant field a fly ball?. High school players can field fly balls. How has he made it this far? Enough with the waiting with Dominique Brown. He SUCKS move on. He is your top outfield prospect and needs to be taught how to field? Are you kidding me?

I stated 2 Years ago that D Brown is an Athlete who plays Baseball but that he’s not a Baseball Player, He has poor fundamentals, and whoever has labled him a 5-Star can’t miss Prospect is not very perceptive and should go work for GM Howie Roseman of the Eagles..
Brown will have a very difficult time eve becoming an everyday player for his picking up the ball of a bats is about the worse I have ever seen in my almost 48 Years.. I am not sure if it’s his eyesight, or postioning, but he jsut seems lost and has a very difficult time picking the ball up of a batter
He’s a career Triple A player at best in my opinion, I wish him the best but he is just not fundamentally sound Baseball Player

That was GM Pat Gillick’s decision Eagles0Superbowls,
He came out of retirement to take the Phils Job to help re-build the Team and to groom his successor which was Rueben Amaro,Jr.. This was their plan
He has lots of grandchildren and his family still lives in the Seattle area year-around, his tenure at th Phils was planned for a 3 Year stay and that was it..

Heres a little tidbit. It had been reported that Andy Reid wanted to take Jason Pierre Paul at the draft table and he was over ruled by Howie Roseman.

Nice Daggolden
Coach AR, his Agent and co-cospirator are planting the seed already that the main Reason the Eagles have failed the last couple of seasons is tbecause of GM Roseman lack of Talent Evaluation and overall poor Roster management.. Caoch AR wins the Internal Struggle in th Front Office and Owner Jeff LUrie has to stp in and make the Call… GM Roseman is out after 2012 and Coach AR gets rewarded with a new 3 Year Extenstion thru the 2016 Season even though the Eagles miss the 2012 Playoffs with another 8-8 Season .. Keep those Season Ticket & Merchandise Orders coming ..

Shiller I just heard it the other day for the 1st time on WIP but I forget who said it. It was a guest. They were talking about how you never here Joe Banner anymore and how Howie Roseman is the mouth piece for the Eagles now. He had gained more power. Thats when they said that Howie made the decision on B Graham over JPP. Reid wanted JPP.

Shiller actually it may have been Reuben Frank calling in to discuss the tag on DJax. That AR actually is the one who is really pushing to keep him. Then the question was brought up who is actually in charge down at Nova Care. Thats when the whole JPP thing came up.

Dag, ok. I still don’t believe a lick of it. First, yes roseman does seem to be the main mouthpiece, as heckert was before him. Also, the guy talking most doesn’t make him the most powerful…see the press secretary and the president. And why in hell would the media know that? I don’t buy it.
