It is a total shame that DeSean Jackson has caught only one more pass than rookie Jeremy Maclin, so far this season.
Yes, Jackson who has been one of the best players in the league over the first half of the season, has 26 catches for 520 yards while Maclin has 25 catches for 337 yards.
How can a receiver as good as Jackson be on a pace to catch only 52 passes in the season?
If you don’t get the ball to your best football player, you are doing the other team a favor.
After all this nonsense about not needing to have a number one receiver, the Eagles get one then don’t work hard enough to get the ball to him.
I knew the Cowboys were going to try to double team Jackson and keep the ball out of his hands, but why weren’t the Eagles ready for it.
Why would let the Cowboys force them to throw the ball to rookie Maclin all night long.
I blame Andy Reid, Marty Mornhinweg and Donovan McNabb for this foolish gameplanning.
Reid always says his job is to put the players in position to win. He didn’t do it on Sunday.
You can’t line Jackson up in one spot and let teams double-team him. You must move him around and put him in motion.
The great teams don’t allow you to take their great players out of the game.
Again I point to an experienced quarterback like McNabb and wonder why he doesn’t do something to change things.
I remember when Jackson stormed out of the Eagles lockeroom following the Tampa Bay game where he caught only one pass. A number of fans wrote me and said he was being immature.
I agreed he should be a team player but there’s no excuse for the Eagles not making more of an effort to get him involved in the game.
