Eagles president Joe Banner slipped up after the NFC Championship game when he was interviewed by Comcast Sportsnet’s Derrick Gunn.
He said insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result. No one knew whether this comment was targeted at his head coach Andy Reid or his quarterback Donovan McNabb, but they knew it was meant for one of them.
He later tried to backtrack on the comment but it was already out of the bag.
I think this revealed much of the thinking.
It also showed us some of the frustration of the Eagles front office. They’re ready to make some major changes but I think they’re still in love with Andy Reid as their head coach, so that means the move would have to be else where.
I’ve talked to numerous people in the Eagles organization and close to the team and they all believe a major change will be made this off season unless the team shocks everybody and wins the Super Bowl.
The Birds have let everybody know they’re working with Reid’s agent on an extension.
They made that very public earlier when the team was doing well but quieted it down as the team has lost the last two games.
I think McNabb is going to be the odd man out if the Birds don’t win the Super Bowl this year. A number of the team’s media mouthpieces are signalling it as well.
I can see all the chips lined up for the change.
McNabb must get this team on a roll or his time as a Bird will be over. I think the Eagles will trade him during the off season and insert Kevin Kolb as their starter.
The Eagles know they have a number of the pieces in place to make a legitimate run to win it al. Changing the head coach might meaning changing the entire system and preventing the team from competing for it all right now.
Third year quarterback Kolb got the chance to play and has shown that he might become a quality NFL quarterback.
He’s going to have some great weapons to throw the ball to with DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin manning the wide receiver positions and Brent Celek lining up at tight end.
Leonard Weaver will still be here at fullback and Kolb will be working with a running game that will be built around LeSean McCoy.
The Birds will spend much of the off season trying to reconstruct their offensive line, so that Kolb will have time to throw.
I’m commenting to let you be aware of of the amazing discovery my child developed browsing the blog. She came to find a good number of details, including how it is like to have a great coaching character to get a number of people clearly completely grasp a number of advanced issues. You actually did more than her desires. I appreciate you for churning out such beneficial, dependable, edifying and cool guidance on that topic to Emily.
