Andy Reid praised right tackle Wiinston Justice and the job he has done to get a four year contract extension.
He talked about Justice telling him at the end of last season that he was going to be a starter for him.
How many people would have taken that bet from Justice? Like a lot of people, I didn’t even think he was going to make the football team.
Big Red said Justice doesn’t normally have a lot to say, so he was surprised when he made that promise to him.
That was all the talking that Justice did. After he said that he went to work. He got quicker, stronger and better.
I’ve got to give him credit for battling back, earning a starting job, then earning an extension. He got nothing more than an opportunity and he made the most of it.
Most of the time when players are humilated in the NFL they never recover. Justice was humiliated in that Giants game, but refused to quit and he should be commended for that.
It says something about him as a football player but it says more about him as a man.
The thing that I love most about the NFL is that, it’s all about production. It’s the best part of America when the best man gets the job.
It’s not the guy who the media says is the best or the guy who comes from the right parents or the guy who comes from the wrong parents.
The person who shows up and does the best job get the job.
Reid singled out some of the same guys whom he had singled out earlier in the week.
He talked about the toughness and commitment of Sheldon Brown , Jason Peters and Leonard Weaver.
Donovan McNabb also made a point of saying that former Eagles wide receiver and current Players Development Director Harold Carmichael should be in the Hall of Fame.
Carmichael was amazingly consistent during his time with the Birds. I won’t say which team Carmichael finished his career with because you might hold it against him.
