A Low Scoring Game Could Give Redskins A Chance

Celek makes a catch Before you write this Redskins game in the win column for the Birds, remember that the Eagles always have trouble offensively against the Washington defense.

Just like in boxing, match ups and styles are important, the same it true in football.

Andy Reid identified one of the problems with the Skins and it’s defensive coordinator, Greg Blache and quality players in the Skins secondary.

Blache has studied the Eagles for years and seems to have a feel for what they like to do.  He takes away what the Eagles like to do and forces them to go to second, third and fourth options.

Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said the Skins play a simple scheme that they’ve master which eliminates any mistakes.

Of course they’ll try to take away DeSean Jackson and then Jeremy Maclin.  They’re not going to want to give Donovan McNabb a shot deep.  A couple of deep throws to Jackson or Maclin would put them game on ice when you consider the Skins’ banged up offense.

Jason Avant makes a catch The Eagles like to throw the ball to their talented group of receivers and the Skins have the talent in their secondary, DeAngelo Hall, Carlos Rogers and LaRon Landry to match them.

It’s a tough matchup for the Eagles receivers because Washington will try to make it more of a physical contest.

The Skins will move up on the receivers and take advantage of the Birds lack of size at the receiver position.

I want to see the Birds use Brent Celek, Jason Avant and Leonard Weaver to defeat all this man to man coverage.  I don’t believe the Skins linebacker are good enough to man up against Celek and Weaver without getting beaten.

Of course a good running attack would force the Skins safeties to get more involved in the running game and open up things for the Eagles receivers.

The bottom line is that the Eagles offense has to find a way to manufacture some points, one way or another.  Every time they get on the board, their chances of losing drop dramatically.

I think the Eagles could win with 14, but 20 points would make them a lock for their seventh win of the season.
