Birds Can’t Let Skins Play Their Type Of Game

Cartwright runs with the ball According to Andy Reid the Redskins could have easily beaten the Cowboys in that 7-6 lost they suffered to them a week ago.

If their field goal kicker had been more accurate they would have had the victory, which says quite abit about the Skins offense and defense.

Their defense is among the best in the league and you know how they give the Eagles so much trouble, but their offense has been decimated by injuries.

Redskins star running back Clinton Portis will be watching Sunday’s game for the same reason Brian Westbrook won’t be playing.

They both have suffered concussions and are still having concussions symptoms.

Redskiin tight end and Eagles killer, Chris Cooley won’t be playing this game either.  Cooley suffered a broken ankle in the first Skins-Eagles contest this season.

Moss scores for Skins Their offernsive line is manned by backups.  On many plays they have trouble getting out of their own way.

Still third-string running back Rock Cartwright is a threat as both a runner and receiver. I think the Skins are going to be conservative with their play-calling, so it will be important that Jeremiah Trotter and Joe Mays do a good job in there versus the run.

They’re not going to score a lot of points, so I expect the Redskins to try to play a low-scoring field position game against the Birds like they tried to achieve versus Washington.

They’ll rely on their defense and special teams to put their offense in position to score.

What this means is the Eagles offense and defense can’t afford to turn over the football.  They can’t play into the Skins game plan by giving up long punt or kickoff returns, or mishandling any kicks.

I don’t see them marching the length of the field and getting into the end zone.  They’ll try to benefit from field position to put points on the board.

The Eagles can’t get caught sleeping and give up a big play to wide receiver Santana Moss, who can score from anywhere on the fieldl.

The defensive line must be aggressive and take charge from the very first snap.  They should be able to get pressure on Jesse Campbell without blitzing.

If they can I would encourage defensive coordinator Sean McDermott stay away from the blitz so they’re not as vulnerable to big plays.

The only way the Skins win this game is because of Eagles turning the ball over or giving up big plays.

It looks like Asant Samuel will play on Sunday and we hope he’s willing to tackle this week.  Sheldon Brown also looks like he’s going to go.
