I critcize the Eagles as much as anybody, but I try to be fair about it. I think many of the critics are being unfair at the moment.
For weeks we heard about how Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb were on a horrible streak of not bringing their team back to win late in games. I was amongst the criticizers.
They weren’t getting it done in those circumstances.
Coming back to win games is something that’s a must if you want to win a championship.
Now that they’ve done it for the last couple of weeks, everybody is now talking about how the Birds are barely beating these bad teams.
Negadelphia is at it again.
Who is Peyton Manning coming back against? The 1985 Bears or the Baltimore Ravens of the early 2000’s?
Should we celebrate Manning bringing his team back against the Houston Texans who have never been to the playoffs?
Should we celebrate Tom Brady bringing the Pats back against perennial door mats like the Bills, Jets and Dolphins?
Let’s be clear about the Redskins. They have one of the sorriest offenses in the league, but their defense is good. Their defense is rated amongst the best in the league.
The Dallas Cowboys scored seven points against them and they scored that one touchdown in the game’s final two minutes.
The Birds scored 27 points against the Redskins defense. It was only the second time in the season that the Skins have surrendered more than 23 points in a game.
The Birds offense bailed out their defense in this one.
It was the Eagles defense that played poorly in the game, not the offense. The defense did contribute a couple of interceptions, a stop after a McNabb interception and the stop at the end of the game.
In between those plays, they made the Redskins which are playing without many of their starters look like a very good offense.
