Brent Celek just signed a six year contract extension with the Eagles thru 2016. Celek is in his third year and has become the second young Eagles player to sign an extension.
He’s having a big year and leading the Eagles in receptions. It’s no surprise that Eagles President Joe Banner has offered him a long-term extension because he’s made that a practice during his time with the Birds.
If gives Celek and his family tremendous security going forward and with the NFL collective bargaining agreement coming to an end in a couple of years and an uncapped year in 2010.
Celek really came into his own last year in the playoffs where he had a record-setting NFC Championship game and has continued it with an outstanding season so far in 2009.
He had a disappointing game on Sunday because he was playing with an injured hand. He couldn’t hang onto three or four catchable passes which came his way because of the hand injury.
